This is a small series of three book cover designs paying homage to the works of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. I choose this series of books because Vonnegut’s style of writing lends itself well to what I try to accomplish in design. His writing is interesting, poetic, and honest… Perhaps too honest. It’s vulgar, but charming all the same.

I based the illustration style on that of Vonnegut’s own, as demonstrated in Breakfast of Champions, and was executed entirely with a felt tipped pen and a little coloring in Illustrator. Although Kurt himself wasn’t a designer, the quirks of his drawings were  enough to draw inspiration from for this series.
